The economy in the United States is in turmoil, but what effect is this economic downturn having on the world oldest profession. One survey recently pegged the size of the United States escort economy at somewhere over 100 million dollars. Speaking to various escorts around the country have made it clear that the economy is defiantly having an effect on the way they do business. Regular clients have fallen off the map, and many are having to seriously consider reviewing the standard rates that they charge. While we cant gage the effects the economy is having on large escort directories such as the Eros Guide, we have certainly seen the effects that the economy is having on escort review sites. Looking at the two main escort review sites shows that the TnA Review has a poll on their site that clearly shows most hobbyists have been effected by this. The erotic review is having to beef up services by introducing a messenger service. On the other hand one site that has actually increased the charges has been one of the largest escort posting sites on the Internet. Craigslist.com which features erotic services ads in almost every major city around the world has begun charging escorts to post in their erotic services section. Also looking at backpage.com a similar site to craigslist has begun dropping rates in some of their cities.
This reporter however wonders if the Spitzer effect has helped or hurt the industry, perhaps what we are seeing is many of the high profile hobbyists that used to partake the company of escort services have cut back, or the fact that certain cities that are stronger escort centers are being hit harder that others. What the bigger picture here is that the escort profession has been the oldest profession and one of the most profitable professions in history. Escorting and prostitution has had its ups and downs over the years, and no doubt that the industry is in a bit of a slump much like every other business in the world, besides Walmart of course. The escort industry is still remaining strong and judging by the active hobbyist community this industry will continue to remain strong forever.
